During half term my husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to have a date day in London without the kids. Obviously a day like this is a bit of a treat so we didn’t want to waste it. Firstly we went to the National Portrait Gallery. We often take Our children to museums and galleries and they enjoy it but it was so nice to be able to take our time and stop and look properly at all the pictures and read the accompanying information.

Then we did the tourist thing and hung out taking photos in Trafalgar Square before a bit of shopping and lunch.

Then we wandered over the river to the South Bank for the real reason we were in London. We were off to watch a recording of The Graham Norton Show. We had to wait a long time in the cold but once we got in to the studio our fingers and toes thawed pretty quick it was a brilliant night. Watching a TV show being recorded is always such a fascinating experience.

We were so lucky with the weather. Although it was cold it was a beautiful sunny day. London always looks so good in the sunshine. The photos I chose to include here don’t actually include any blue skies, but trust me they were there.
